Time really flies! Do you remember the day you were assigned Barcelona as your Erasmus city? Now it’s almost the day you’ll step on one of the best cities in the world to make it become your new home!

We can guarantee you you’ll have the time of your life, but first let’s make sure none of your basic questions before arriving remains unanswered!

1. Where will I live?

Still without a place where to live? Uniplaces is a good first stop to find your way. They offer all kind of rooms and apartments all around the city, especially thought for university students who look for a temporary place to live.

If you’re not sure about what area to choose, you can also take a look at our Survival Guide and check what seems more interesting to your needs. Eixample or Sant Martí, next to Ciutadella and Poblenou campus are the most popular neighbourhoods among our students.

2. When will university start and what will my schedule be?

Universitat Pompeu Fabra will keep you perfectly updated about your orientation day as an international student. Make sure you read all their e-mails and you don’t have any doubt. You don’t want to miss the beginning of your stay!

On your first day, they’ll provide you with your brand new red UPF folder before the whole morning of presentations starts. These will include talks about your Learning Agreement and how to add/drop classes or basic safety tips and local facts. We know they might not be the most exciting ones to start with, but wait till the end and only then you’ll hear the best one… OURS! :)

3. How will I move around Barcelona?

Did we already mention that Barcelona is one of the best cities in the world? We’re sure you won’t be disappointed! Barcelona has the perfect size,  it’s not too big to have to commute for a long time or too small to get easily bored of it. You will be able to walk almost everywhere, or else take a short metro ride to any spot within the metropolitan area: public transportation works perfectly and has a great schedule!

If you’re already curious about the city, the sightseeing you cannot miss, or even about where to eat or go out, you can check everything out on our Survival Guide once again!

4. How will I make new friends?

Believe us, that will not definitely be a problem. ESN Barcelona UPF has already planned your Welcome Days and you’ll meet plenty of them!

Every year we’re in charge of making sure your arrival in our city goes as smoothly as possible. For that reason, we organise all kind of social, cultural and leisure activities during the first 10 days of the term, so that you can get to know your new home while you meet hundreds of other students in your very same situation. If you want to discover former students first-hand experience, you can read it here!

In case you arrive in Barcelona a while before university and Welcome Days start, you can sign up on our Buddy Program and we’ll get you in contact with a local student who will be able to guide you upon your arrival and whole stay. Find more info here.
